About Me

Annette Gaetana Ellis is a Worcester Massachusetts native. She began her training in Classical Ballet when she was 8 years old. She trained in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, where she completed her Intermediate, Advance 1, and Advance 2 exams with the score of Distinction. This qualified her for the 2018 Geneè International Ballet Competition in Hong Kong, where she was chosen to go to the Semi Finals with 50 other dancers from around the globe. She was One of Three Americans to represent the United States in this competition.

Annette also began training in Contemporary Circus Arts at age 8. This included hand balancing, partner hand balancing, contortion, break-dancing, aerials silks, hammock, straps, lyra, rope, and flying trapeze. Her circus experience allowed her to be able to perform on Broadway in the Actor’s Fund C.T.F.D 31st Jubilee directed by Anne Marie DeAngelo, Disney’s NYC Summer Stage, and the Brooklyn Art Museum’s Basquiat Exhibit. Before attending Point Park University, Annette spent a year freelancing in the Boston area. There she became a member of Mystique Illusions Dance Theatre and performed as a soloist in their production of Intrinsic Forces.

Annette received her BFA in Dance Performance with a concentration in Modern and Minor in Business Management at Point Park University. There she was able to perform the works of Kiesha Lalama, Rozanna Sweeny, Rocker Verastique, and Judith Leifer. She was also chosen to be the Modern-Graham Apprentice for Professor Judith Leifer. Outside of the University Annette spent her summers training at American Ballet Theatre and Co-Motion Summer Intensive with Jun Kuribayashi, Adrian Hoffman, Mike Tyus, Joy Isabella Brown, and Jamila Glass.

“As a person living with a disability, I envision a future where I will create a space for personal story telling; An environment for people from all walks of life and abilities to share their perspectives and experiences through dance, performance, and other creative multi-disciplinaries. I will develop accessible educational and artistic opportunities for those who have been marginalized because of their disabilities, while undoing the effects of “disabled” segregation. I will foster inter-abled relationships and connections through dance.”
